Mark Jon
Senft
Nov 23, 1955 — Oct 20, 2026
York
Mark Jon Senft, of York, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital at the age of 70.
Born in York on November 23, 1955, he was the son of the late Waldemar Herbert and Dorothy E. (Senft) Senft. Mark graduated from West York High School and began his working life at Bill Mack’s Ice Cream in Dover at just 15 years old. He went on to manage the business before pursuing a career in food sales with Ettline Foods, where he worked for nearly 20 years.
Through his years in the food industry, Mark came to know countless restaurant owners and employees throughout York County. It often seemed there wasn’t anyone in the local restaurant business he didn’t know. He took great pride in owning and operating his own restaurant, Mark’s place, where he enjoyed creating a welcoming place for people to gather and share good food. His interest in food extended beyond his work, as he loved to cook and never lost his appreciation for a good serving of ice cream, a love he passed along to his children. In more recent years, he enjoyed helping at Hefty Lefty’s, the hoagie business owned by his daughter, Christy, and her husband, Mark. It gave him another opportunity to spend time with family while staying connected to the kind of work he knew so well.
Family was the most important part of Mark’s life. He loved taking his family on annual trips to the Outer Banks. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being part of their lives. At home, he loved the company of his red Lab, Charlie.
Mark leaves his daughter, Christy M. Millek, and her husband, Mark, of York; his son, Mark Jon Senft II, and his wife, Cambria, of York; and his three grandchildren, Ava Millek, Masen Senft, and Stella Millek, all of York. He is also survived by his brothers, Herb Senft and his wife, Mary Ann, of Indianapolis; Doug Senft and his wife, Sharon, of Hanover; and Ned Senft and his wife, Jodi, of York. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Senft.
A time to visit with family and friends will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 3070 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. A funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
