Obituary

Maurice "Moe" L. Knauer, Jr., of Felton, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the age of 69 after a courageous and brief fight against cancer. Moe was the husband of Lynda O. (Olszewski) Knauer, whom he married on October 7, 1978.

Moe was born on June 8, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Maurice L. and Joan (Anstine) Knauer. He pursued higher education at Penn State University. Professionally, Moe dedicated his skills as a maintenance technician to McCormick & Company and later, Key Plastics.

Moe's culinary talents were well-known, and his delightful sense of humor endeared him to many, allowing him to form friendships effortlessly wherever he went. During his time at York Hospital, he made friends with many nurses and enjoyed the everyday banter back and forth with them. He treasured family moments at Lake Wallenpaupack, creating lasting memories with his loved ones. A passionate sports enthusiast, Moe loved Penn State and was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens.

His unwavering dedication to his children was evident in his active involvement in their lives. Moe never missed their sporting events and once drove his son, Matt, from one sports camp in South Carolina to another in New York. He imparted his love for fishing to his children, Jess and Matt, and grandson, Cameron, and also introduced Cameron to lacrosse. Moe's selflessness was profound; he devoted his life to his children's happiness and growth.

Beyond his familial commitments, Moe found joy in hunting. However, his greatest passion was spending quality time with his family, cherishing every moment shared together. Moe was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

Besides his loving wife, Lynda, Moe leaves his daughter, Jessica L. Rednak and husband, Scott of Red Lion, his son, Matthew J. Knauer of Felton and his grandsons, Cameron and Jameson Rednak, both of Red Lion. He has another grandson due in May.

A time to visit with friends and family will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, and again on Friday, January 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Father Peter Rettig as celebrant. Inurnment will take place following the service in Round Hill Cemetery.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff at Wellspan York Hospital. Your unwavering dedication and the friendships formed with Moe will always be cherished and remembered.
