Obituary

Melvin E. Taylor, Sr., of Red Lion, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital on June 25, 2024 at the age of 90.  He was the husband of the late Mary R. (Cox) Taylor who died on March 20, 2022 and the late Joyce L. (Wright) Taylor who died on February 7, 1995.

Melvin was born in Crossroads on May 12, 1934 to the late Benjamin Roy and Susie M. (Malles) Taylor. He was employed with the former Global Stone, now York Building Products, and after retirement, enjoyed driving dump truck for several small local companies. In his earlier years, Melvin enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting and traveling.

He leaves his sons, Melvin E. Taylor, Jr. and companion, Lisa Mason of Chase City, VA, Loren C. Taylor and wife, Nan of York, and Timothy T. Taylor and wife, Desiree of Glen Rock, as well as his daughters, Mary L. Hiler and companion, JoAnn Boccanfuso of Wellsville, Kathryn A. Wilhide of York, and Kathleen A. Herman and husband, Joe of York. He will be missed by his four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa M. Markline and his nine brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be private and at the convenience of the family in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Stewartstown with full military rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
