Obituary

YORK August 31, 2011, at 1:30 a.m. is the day Mercedes (Neiman) Hare, 80, formerly of Red Lion celebrates her eternal birthday after a lengthy illness. Mercedes became the wife of William W. "Bill" Hare on December 24, 1950. God Blessed them with five healthy children, Beverly Jane Crossland of Red Lion and husband Kenneth, Diane Louise Blymire of York, Karin Mercedes Hare of Windsor, Lawrence William Hare of Red Lion and wife Holly and Rajean Mae Hare of Windsor and her fiance Dennis Johnson of Windsor; five grandchildren, James A. Blymire, Michael E. Blymire, John W. Hare, Odessa Nadine Hare, Brandon D. Crossland. Mercedes was born January 10, 1931, the eldest child, to Kenneth and Mary Jane (Crone) Neiman. Her parents were proud when she graduated from William Penn High School Class of 1948. She has a sister, Judy R. Mummert of York and a brother, William E. Neiman of York and numerous nieces and nephews. She and her husband are currently members of Advent Lutheran Church in York. They were former members of St. James Lutheran Church in Brogue. Her services in the church included teaching Sunday School, Vacation Church School, Council and multi-offices in the church Women Circle. Mercedes was a devoted and active member in her two favorite organizations. The Brogue Lioness Club was chartered in June 1979. She was the Clubs Charter President and served in most committees and offices of the Club. Her membership in the Rainbow Chapter #517 Order of the Eastern Star located in Red Lion, gave her great joy. She served as Worthy Matron in 1996-1997 and was also a Grand Representative to Idaho in Pennsylvania 2006-2008, through which she was able to attend Idaho's Grand Chapter. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, will be handling the arrangements. Viewing will be on Monday September 5, 2011, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. At 6:45 pm a memorial service by Rainbow Chapter #517 OES will take place. The service will follow to begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Her pastor, the Rev. Brenda M. Ritterpusch will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Paul Lutheran (Hametown) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributons may be offered to York Health Foundation, Cancer Patient Help Fund, 912 S. George St., York, PA 17403; or to the White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17403.
