Michael Jordan
McPherson
Jun 11, 1953 — Sep 14, 2026
Michael Jordan McPherson, of Felton, entered into rest at WellSpan York Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the age of 73. He was the husband of Ara Kimberly (Arnold) McPherson, with whom he shared 53 years and celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Mike was born on June 11, 1953, to the late Earl Jordan McPherson and Emma Louise (Schmuck) Herbst. Mike started in the excavating field working with his brother, Danny McPherson. He continued his career in the field, working more than 20 plus years for Jackie L. Trout Excavating and Septic Tank Services where he adopted the nickname of “DiggerMan” from a little boy excited for his backhoe arrival. He eventually retired in 2019 from Stewart & Tate, Inc. after many years of service in the paving division.
Mike was a simple man who enjoyed life most when he was outdoors, working with his hands, or spending time with the people he cared about. He was the typical “Mr. Fix It” who enjoyed tinkering in his garage when he wasn’t hunting or fishing. One of his most memorable hunting trips took him to Colorado with his late friend, Doc Seaks. It was a trip Mike spoke about often, and a place he had always hoped to have the opportunity to return to.
Some of Mike’s favorite traditions were the ones that remained constant throughout the years. For the last 30 years, he and Kim, along with their good friends, would travel to Ocean City every October. He had a love for motorcycles, four wheelers, NASCAR, and was always up for a good hog roast. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies in his garage shooting darts and drinking Budweiser’s, but, in more recent years, Mike found enjoyment in quieter moments by simply sitting outside on his deck or at his sister’s house, listening to nearby water and enjoying nature.
Mike gave back to his community through his service on the Felton Borough Council which included volunteer work at the town gazebo. He was also a member of the Yorkana Game & Gun Club.
In addition to his wife, Kim, Mike leaves his daughter, Brandy Jordan McPherson (Brandon) of Dallastown; son, Steven M. Arnold of Dallastown; two grandchildren, Carter Jordan Moody and Chloe Jordan Kane, both of Dallastown. He also leaves his siblings, Sandy S. Nace (Marvin) of Felton, Dorothy “Dot” DeVilbiss (Joe) of Fawn Grove, Ann Smith of Fawn Grove, Donald McPherson (Marie) of Colorado, and Dale McPherson of Stewartstown, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Danny, W. Dean, Bruce, and J. Webb; sister, Roxann Koons; and nephew, Danny McPherson, Jr.
A time to visit with friends and family will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 3070 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. A funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Bryant Holtzapple of Bethlehem Stonepile Church officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike’s memory may be offered to the Yorkana Game & Gun Club, 468 Smyser Road, York, PA 17406.
