Obituary

Mildred Jean Grim, 91, of York, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born in York on January 10, 1934, to the late Larry Delmas Wert and Mildred (Kearns) Wert. She was the wife of the late Palmer W. Grim, who preceded her in death on August 4, 1985.

Mildred graduated from Red Lion High School in 1951 and continued her education at York Nursing School.  She put her nursing career on hold to raise her family and picked it up later when her children were older.

In her free time, Mildred enjoyed reading and walking. She valued time spent with friends and especially appreciated being with her family.

She is survived by her sons: Michael D. Grim and his wife, Kathleen; Palmer R. Grim and his companion, Kelley; Gregory W. Grim and his companion, Cecilia Emma; and Eric P. Grim. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Barbara Jean Grim, Michelle Kristen Kati and her husband, Lawrence, Palmer Grim and his wife, Amanda, Alec Grim, Pius G. Grim, and his companion Tracy Webb, Wesley M. Grim, and Giovanni Bonelli; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie Jeanne and Avery Grace Grim.

Also surviving are her brothers, Larry I. Wert and his wife, Brenda, Philip Wert and his wife, Ruth Ann, and David B. Wert, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her half-sister, Soundra (Wert) Conner.

A service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Pastor Josh Wargo will officiate. Interment will follow in Red Lion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
