WRIGHTSVILLE Miriam M. (Leiphart) Grothe, 78, entered into rest unexpectedly at York Hospital on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 8:38 p.m., as a result of a fire at her residence where she lived for 55 years. She was the wife of Wilton E. Grothe, who entered into rest on February 24, 2001, and was the companion of William F. Altland who just entered into rest on Tuesday November 23, 2010. She was born in Chanceford Twp. on august 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry and Mamie (Criswell) Leiphart. She was a cigar maker in Red Lion, also worked at Danskin, and retired after many years of service from Stanley Tools. Miriam was a graduate of Red Lion High School Class of 1950. She loved to go to yard sales and shopping at the Goodwill store. She is survived by a daughter, Carlene R. Fogle of Conway, S.C., and husband, Michael; two grandsons, Brandon R. Heaps of Mechanicsburg and PV2 Logan M. Heaps of Baunholder, Germany. Viewings will be Thursday , from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. the service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion, officiating. Burial will be Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the New Bridgeville Fire Company, that her late husband Wilton helped to establish, 2870 furnace Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.
