Nelson Sharpe IV, of York, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 3:30 pm, at Dallastown Nursing Center, at the age of 48. He is the husband of Wendy E. (Smith) Sharpe, to whom he married on August 26, 1995, celebrating 24 years together. He was born in Chester, PA on May 6, 1971 and was the son of Susan (Griese) DeHart and her husband Richard DeHart of Coatsville, and the late Leo N. Sharpe. Nelson received a BS degree in Criminal Justice, and worked as a campus police officer for Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster. He was a long time member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hallam, where he served as an usher. He enjoyed sports, reading and listening to music and was an avid Ohio State football fan. Besides his wife, mother and step-father, he leaves a son, Corey A. Sharpe and a daughter, Kelsey C. Sharpe, both of York. Nelson also leaves his mother in law, Cheryl A. (Sechrist) Smith of York; brother in laws, Wade L. Smith and wife Linda of York; and Daron J. Smith and wife Ann of Red Lion; Aunt Anne and Uncle Follett Carter of Sanibel, FL; and his seven nieces that were the center of his life. Viewings for Nelson will be on Friday, November 22nd from 6-8 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion and on Saturday, November 23rd, from 10-11 am at Faith UM Church, 126 E. Market Street, Hallam. A Service of Honor and Praise for Nelson will begin at 11 am at the church, with his pastor, Vernon E. Shenberger, officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial will take place at the convenience to the family in Kreutz Creek Cemetery.
