Norma "Deanie" J. (Bowser) Cordrey, of Red Lion, accepted the hand of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 8:20 pm surrounded by her family, at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of Charles D. Cordrey, Sr., of Red Lion, to whom she married on March 16, 1953, celebrating 69 years together.
She was born in York, on October 24, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Nelson E. and Alma I (Seitz) Bowser. Norma and her husband owned and operated Charlie's Sales and Service in Brogue for 20 years. She went back to school in her 50's to study Cosmetology. She worked at Holiday Hair for 20 years prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove (East End) Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of the JR. department and a member of the choir. She loved doing her clown ministry for various nursing homes and going on girls' trips to Ocean City every year. Norma enjoyed playing cards, doing crafts, and scrapbooking. She was a wonderful person, and always found the good in everyone she met. Her family was top priority and she enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, a son Charles D. Cordrey, Jr. and his wife Amy of Wrightsville, and a daughter, Debbie Baker and her husband Terry of Red Lion. She was the loving grandmother to JR (Laree'), Dan (Karen), Adam (Alex), Brielle (Cody), Brayden (Ed), T.J. (Sue), Tammy (Dave), Jeff, and Alicia (Donnie), and the great grandmother to Danny Mac (Samantha), Destinee, Chloe, Sage, Gaige (Sierra), Gavyn, Charlee Rose, Lauren (Shane), Logan, Kiele and Kenan, Cole, Caitlyn and great great grandma to Christopher and Paityn. Deanie also leaves a sister, Faye Selack of York, along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy, Alma, Jeannette and Erma and a brother, Donald.
Viewings for Norma will be on Monday, September 26th, from 6-8 pm and Tuesday, Sept, 27th, from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Deanie will be at 11 am on Tuesday, at the funeral home with her pastor, Terry Robinson officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant View (East End) Church Cemetery.
