Obituary

NEW BRIDGEVILLE Paul T. Koontz, 82, formerly of Ortanna, entered into rest on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 1:12 p.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Alice (Eyler) Koontz, who entered into rest on February 28, 2005, and a former wife Greta P. (Burtner) Shimmel of Red Lion. Paul was born in Bittersville, on October 8, 1928, the son of the late Roy and Beulah (Knaub) Koontz. Paul was a tool and die maker and worked for the former York International Borg Warner where he retired in 1988 after 40+ years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #1872, Buchanon Valley Fire Hall, and Buchanon Valley Gun Club. He loved to fish and hunt, and was an avid Phillies and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed watching In Touch Ministries on TV with Rev. Charles Stanley. Paul is survived by his son, Rodney L. Koontz of Berkshire, N.Y.; two daughters, Sherry Gohn of New Bridgeville and husband, Gene and Connie Boyd of Windsor and husband, Ronald; two step-sons, Donald G. Gee of Windsor and wife, Jane, and Sterling C. Gee of Wrightsville and wife, Lori; one step-daughter, Jeanne M. Gee Spyker of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor L. Edward Wible, of Chanceford Alliance Church in Felton, officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
