Phyllis R. (Hake) Mundis, of Red Lion, left her earthly life and entered God's kingdom with her loving husband awaiting her arrival, on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11:03 am at her residence with family by her side at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Carl D. Mundis who entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2006.
She was born in Lower Windsor Township on January 13, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mabel (Hildebrand) Hake. She worked at several factories in the area over the years before driving school bus for Reliance Motor Coach where she retired from after 29 years of service. Phyllis was a life member of Windsor Church of God in Windsor where she was a very devoted and active member, serving her church in many different aspects of hospitality when needed. She loved music, traveling in the RV with family, playing games, quilting, and exercising in the pool with friends from her condo association. Shopping was a special passion that she enjoyed, and she will always be remembered for her Dutch Pot Pie. Phyllis was very devoted to reading her bible and to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Phyllis and Carl have four children, Duke "Jay" Mundis and his wife, Barbara, of Red Lion, Larry L. Mundis of Red Lion, Linda R. Smith and her husband, Ed, of Windsor and Janet L. Collins and her husband, Bob, of Dover. She was the loving grandmother of twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Phyllis also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Deanna Tressler on June 4, 2005, and was one of six girls in her family, all of whom preceded her in death; Martha Horne, Grace Harvey, Hazel Hake, June Patton and Margaret Mundis.
A Service of Honor and Praise for Phyllis will be on Thursday, December 2nd, at 10:30 am at Windsor Church of God, 1125 Manor Road, Windsor. A viewing and time to extend condolences with the family will be from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church. Her grandson, Robert Mundis, pastor of Tabernacle Regular Baptist Church in Airville, and her great nephew, Pastor Mike Walker, Interim pastor of Windsor Church of God, will share in officiating. Burial will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
