Dr. R. Dale McCormick, DO, F. A.C.O.S., of York, entered into God's eternal care on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:45 pm at Rest Haven – York at the age of 86. He was the husband of Shirley P. (Artman) McCormick of York to whom he married on June 2, 1974, soon to celebrate 44 years of marriage. He was born in Winchester, Virginia on January 6, 1932 and was the son of the late Russell J. and Lottie F. (Strowbridge) McCormick. He was a Doctor of Osteopathy and certified in surgery. He and his wife Shirley had their own practice called York Academy of Surgery located on Eastern Blvd. for 49 years, retiring in 2013. Dale was a member of the Zeredatha Lodge #451, Free and Accepted Masons in York, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and Y. C.O.M.S. Besides his wife, Shirley, he leaves a daughter, Denise "Pixie" Ruth and her husband Mike of York, two grandchildren Logan M. Shue and his fiance' Ashley of Dallastown and Colby J. Shue and her fiance' Joshua of Dallastown and great grandfather to Charley J. Shue, Laylah N. Miserendino, Aslynn D. Miserendino and Sadie R. Myers and he has several cousins in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by a son, Jean D. "Ted" LaMotte, III. There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc. Services and burial will be at a later date in Martinsburg, West Virginia at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contrbutions may be offered to a charity of your choice in memory of Dr. McCormick.
