Obituary

Ralph Edward Smith, entered into rest on Friday, February 23rd at 2:45 AM at York Hospital at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Ivan and Mazie Smith. Ralph was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0791 in Shiloh. He enjoyed sleeping, eating, watching the Dallas Cowboys and companionship with his animals. He was a longtime member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and served as High Priest in the Congregation. He was United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #50, York, PA. Viewing will be on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6-7 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion . A Service of Honor and Praise for Ralph will begin at 7pm at the funeral home with Bishop Jeff Ohl officiating. Full military rites will be given by the York County Veterans Honor Guard before the start of the service. Burial will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Ralph was the father of four children, Patsy Smith, Darlene Bell and Ben C. Smith all of Seattle, Washington and Edward I. Smith and his wife Nancy of York. He had several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was the one of five children, leaving his brother, Freeman Smith of York and preceded by a son, David Smith and three siblings. He also leaves his beloved dogs, Jonesy, Nutmeg, Jewels and Boo.
