Obituary

Ray L. Olewiler, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Wellspan York Hospital at 12:57 am at the age of 73. He was born in Columbia, PA on May 8, 1947 and was the son of the late Raymond F. and Louise L. (McCleary) Olewiler. Ray was a 1966 graduate of Eastern York Schools, best known as "Peach". He was employed as an engineer by Voith Hydro in York, retiring in 2009, after 28 years. Ray also designed and crafted endless stage productions for Central and Suburban Schools plus numerous additional schools and churches throughout PA. He taught drafting classes in York and portrayed Santa Claus famously for over 20 years. He was a member of the Missionaires Gospel Singer for 20 years. He was an exceptionally talented person. York Little Theater, DreamWrights Center and various other stages in the area demonstrated the many artistical and designing skills which were his passion and joy. Ray also donated his talents to the York Fair for more than 30 years. Along with this creativity, he is fondly remembered for just having fun and for his "Gift of Gab". Ray is survived by three sisters: Polly Smith and husband Harry of Felton, Shelbie Olewiler of York, Nancy Seaks and husband S. Donald of Seven Valleys and one brother, Lee Olewiler and wife Clara of Mt. joy, PA., along with numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences on Tuesday, February 16th, from 6-7 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Memorial Service to Honor and Praise Ray will begin at 7 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Steven A. Schmuck, pastor of Red Lion Bible Church officiating. Burial will be private at Shenberger's Chapel Cemetery at the convenience of the family. All those attending the service are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines as set forth by they CDC. Please be courteous when greeting the family to allow everyone to have time to pay their respects. We want to extend a sincere thank you to all of Ray's many friends and neighbors who so willingly assisted him for many years.
