Obituary

WINDSOR Robert "Bob" L. Lau, Sr., 66, entered into eternal rest after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family, at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon R. (Kerns) Lau, whom he married on March 26, 1966. He was born in York, on February 13, 1948, son of the late Elwood L. and Ruth L. (Schnetzka) Lau. Bob worked at the former York International Corp., where he retired after 30 years of service, and then drove bus for Dallastown School District for more than 10 years. He was a member of Local Union #1872, and Viligant Social Club of York. In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by a daughter, Judith L. Eyler (Todd) of Red Lion; a son, Robert "Bobby" L. Lau, Jr. (Bethann) of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Zachary T. Eyler (Jennifer) of Windsor, and Lauren R.L. Eyler, Corey L. Eyler, Seth R. Lau, and Claire O. Lau, all of Red Lion; a great-grandson, Todd R. Eyler of Windsor; three brothers, Eugene W. Lau (Amy) of Red Lion, James E. Lau (Irene) of Dover, and Charles M. Lau (Amy) of West York; a half brother, Randy Doyle of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gorman E. Lau. There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Bob will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's U.C.C. in Red Lion, officiating. Cremation will take place and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Bob was a wonderful husband to Sharon, having celebrated 48 years together, a loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, who always put his family first. He loved fishing, boating, and hunting. We will miss you and you will be in our hearts forever! A very special thank you to everyone in the open heart ICU and to those at Tower 2 and the entire staff who helped Bob in any way during his stay.
