IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert E.
Livingston
December 5, 1929 – September 29, 2025
Robert E. Livingston, 95, of Dallastown, entered into rest on Monday, September 29, 2025, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Shelby I. Mitchell, who passed away on August 19, 2021.
Born on December 5, 1929, in Dallastown, Robert was the son of the late Edward and Ida (Daugherty) Livingston. A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Robert had a love for gardening, especially growing strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and red beets. He enjoyed Sunday drives and spending time with his many friends at the Dallastown American Legion Post 605, the West York VFW Post 8951, and the Viking Athletic Association. In his younger years, Robert was an avid motorcyclist. Between his service in the Navy, and even afterward, he hitchhiked across the country from San Diego to York on four separate occasions. He loved fishing in the streams of York County and was often found at Lake Redman. Known for his sense of humor, Robert was a pioneer of the "dad joke" long before the term existed. Above all, he was devoted to his wife, Shelby, the love of his life.
Robert is survived by his son, Troy A. Livingston, and wife Julie, of Windsor; his step-sons, Steven A. Koller and wife Diane of Seven Valleys, Rodney S. Koller of Seven Valleys, and Robbie Mitchell and wife Brenda of Pearl, MS; and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth K. Shiflet and husband Thomas of Dallastown. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Emily Livingston, Grace Livingston, and Elliot Livingston, all of Windsor; Steve Koller Jr. and wife Camille of York; Jesse Cowan of York; Cody Mitchell of Pearl, MS; Chris Endicott of Union, MO; and Ray Corley of Pearl, MS and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate and honor Robert's life will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 am at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be offered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. For those wishing to attend the service, please meet at the entrance of the cemetery by 10:45 am. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
