Obituary

Rodger Thomas Sechrist, of Red Lion, entered into rest at Victorian Villa on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the age of 98. He was the husband of the late Mabel Elizabeth (Flinchbaugh) Sechrist who entered into rest on January 23, 1999 and the late Delores Davis who entered into rest on October 22, 2016. Born in Springvale on June 24, 1924 to Henry and Ida Mae (Burke) Sechrist. Rodger attended the Springvale School House and later entered in the service, proudly serving his country in the US Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the Company B 45th Infantry Thunderbird Division. He was a POW in Germany and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. After his honorable discharge, Rodger was employed as a machinist at Columbia Products where he retired from after 25 years. In addition, he owned and operated a farm in Springvale which he purchased in 1954. Rodger was a founding member of Springvale Hunting Lodge and enjoyed fishing & hunting. He was a founding member and Deacon of the former Pleasant View Brethren in Christ Church where he attended faithfully for 56 years. Rodger will be missed by his three sons, Terry R. Sechrist of Lock Haven, Wayne T. Sechrist and wife, Cherie of Red Lion, Mark S. Sechrist and wife, Carol of Red Lion, his two daughters, Linda E. Mosser and husband, Jeff of Montana, Darlene J. Gilbert and husband, Terry of Red Lion, as well as his thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan H. Sechrist in 2008 along with his sisters, Mabel, Minnie, Ruth, Mary, Edna, and his brothers, Bill, John, and Elwood. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church Cemetery. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
