Romaine E. (Snyder) Burkholder, of York, entered into rest at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 9:50 pm at the age of 97. She was the wife of the late Russel C. Burkholder who died on August 14, 2000.

She was born in East Hopewell Township on April 18, 1926 to the late Clarence W. and Ida E. (McCleary) Snyder and was the step-daughter of the late David E. Bowman. Romaine was a seamstress at the former Jason's Sewing Factory in Red Lion where she retired from after many years of service. In her free time, she found peace and joy while hunting in the mountains, fishing in Canada and crocheting.

Romaine leaves her nieces, Joanne E. Keener of Windsor, Brenda L. Howard of Wrightsville, Lori J. Groupe and husband, Geoffrey of Wrightsville as well as her nephews, Clarence W. Snyder and wife, Theresa of Wrightsville and William "Sonny" Myers of York. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Esther (Snyder) Waltemyer and infant sister, Evelyn Alice Snyder, her brother, John Everett Snyder, Sr., her nephews, Harold "Dinks" Snyder and John Everett Snyder, Jr., her nieces, Diane Leiphart and Violet Houser.

A viewing for Romaine will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:30 am at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 am with Pastor Brian Biery of Christ Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury officiating. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
