Ruth H. Resser, of York, went to her Eternal home, on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 9:10 am, with her family by her side, at the age of 95. She was born in York on September 19, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Lewis A. and Florence Roberta (Perejoy) Resser. She was an executive secretary for Buchart-Horn, Inc. in York for many years. Ruth enjoyed shopping, flowers, and spring days. Her favorite hobby was interior decorating. She leaves her son, James B. Pittenger and his wife Debra of Red Lion. Ruth was the loving grandmother of Alexander L. Pittenger of Phoenixville, and great grandmother of Brian A. Pittenger. She leaves her half-brother, Lewis Resser and his wife Elaine, along with nieces and nephews and a cousin, Marian Trone. She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Messersmith and a brother, David Resser. As per Ruth's request, there will be no viewing. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family with burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's UCC in Red Lion will be officiating. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting the family with the arrangements. Ruth's family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to Linda King, who opened her own home to take care of Ruth during her time of illness. It was truly appreciated. Ruth was a very independent person, still driving her car at age 95, just prior to her illness. God looked upon His garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine."
