DALLASTOWN Ruth E. (Dietz) Smith, 94, formerly of Red Lion entered into rest after a lengthy illness on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 12:10 p.m. at Manor Care Dallastown. She was the wife of Elwood S. Smith, who entered into rest on April 10, 1987. Born in Hellam Twp. on April 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Carrie E. (Crumbling) Dietz. She worked on the stripping machine at the House of Windsor Cigar Company retiring in 1978, after many years of service. She was a longtime active and faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion where she also sang in the choir. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of AARP. She is survived by one sister, Louise M. Strayer of Dallastown; a step son-in-law, Charlie Stouch of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jaqueline Stouch; and a sister, Romaine Trayer. There will be no viewing. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, will be handling the arrangements. Family and friends are asked to meet Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Canadochly Cemetery for a graveside service. Her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Charles W.
