Sandra “Sandy” L. (Gettel) Dells passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, with her son and his fiancée by her side, while under the care of hospice. She was 89.
Born on November 19, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sandy was the daughter of the late Wilmer Howard Gettel and Flora Louise Albright. She was the loving wife of the late Earl L. Dells, Sr., a Korean War veteran.
Throughout her life, Sandy enjoyed a wide variety of interests. In her younger years, she pitched softball for the Rangers Social Club and enjoyed pottery and crocheting. Fishing became a favorite family pastime over the years and provided many wonderful memories together.
One of Sandy’s greatest passions was cooking. She loved watching cooking shows on television and trying her hand at the different recipes she discovered. She was always eager to learn something new and put her own touch on what she made.
As a young woman, Sandy served in the Civil Air Patrol during the Korean War era. She often shared stories about learning how to disassemble and clean rifles and enjoyed spending time at the shooting range.
Sandy worked for Tri-Tronics, an electronics distributor in Baltimore County, where she served as a credit manager until her retirement. In 2010, she moved to Pennsylvania and attended Red Lion Bible Church.
Sandy is survived by her son, Earl L. Dells, Jr. and his fiancée, Wendy Elbasha; and her brother, Raymond Gettel and his wife, Patricia, of La Veta, Colorado, as well as other family members.
