IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sarah Jane
(Wilson) Hengst
July 14, 1938 – November 23, 2025
Sarah Jane (Wilson) Hengst, 87, of York, entered into rest on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. She was the wife of Lonnie Eugene Hengst, whom she married on November 25, 1978.
Born in Carlisle on July 14, 1938, Jane was the daughter of the late Helen Wilson. She was a 1955 graduate of Dover High School and later worked as a cashier at Acme Markets and Doug's Super Thrift before finishing out her career as a mortgage processor for York Federal Savings & Loan, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
Jane loved to have her family gather around her table for holiday and birthday meals, with Christmas Dinner being her favorite. Jane also enjoyed visiting Shady Maple and Boehringer's Drive-In for a meal with Lonnie and her friends. Jane loved to watch baseball with Lonnie, and especially enjoyed when the Orioles would beat the Yankees. She was a master level Solitaire player, enjoyed puzzling, and playing marbles with family and friends. She loved to cook and her oyster stuffing, veal scallopini, and prime rib were family favorites! Jane was a mainstay on the register for the annual church yard sale and loved the interaction with the patrons. Monthly meals with the 'Acme Gang' and a trip to DQ with Lonnie were also things she loved to do!
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by her son, Troy Livingston, and his wife, Julie, of Windsor, PA; a stepson, Bradley Hengst, and his wife, Deana, of Lewisberry, PA; a stepdaughter, Lisa Hengst, of Easton, PA; grandchildren Emily Livingston, Grace Livingston, Elliot Livingston, and Joshua Hengst; and brothers Gerald Sterner and Eugene Sterner.
