Obituary

Scott A. Lightner, 56, died on Monday, March 9, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Amanda A. (Krebs) Lightner, sharing almost 17 years of marriage and over 20 years together.

Scott was born in York on August 19, 1969, son of Carole E. (Gingerich) Lightner and the late Bruce E. Lightner.

Scott was a graduate of Spring Grove High School, Class of 1987. He worked as a truck driver for Etline for 20 years before working in food service at York Hospital. He also worked for Bricker’s French Fries, a job he truly enjoyed. Scott enjoyed golfing, especially with his late uncle, and attending sprint car races. He loved playing games, hosting parties, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Scott is survived by his daughter, Natalie Lightner; two sisters, Christine Rotz and Sharon Dunmeyer and her husband, Steve; five nieces and nephews, Roxanne Steiner and her husband, Jordan, Tyler Rotz, Chandler Lightner, Alex Dunmeyer, and Madison Dunmeyer; a great-nephew, Farin Rotz; his beloved dog, Buttercup; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Chance Lightner.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Salem Christian Church, 24 Franklin Street, Jacobus. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Kevin Becker officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
