IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon A.
(Porter) Dean
July 4, 1943 – November 27, 2024
Sharon A. (Porter) Dean, of Red Lion, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late Richard Louis Dean, Sr. who entered into rest on May 21, 2008.
Born on July 4, 1943, in Washington, DC, Sharon was the daughter of the late Charles William and Barbara Alma (Carpenter) Porter. Her Independence Day birthday perfectly matched her vibrant personality—Sharon was truly a firecracker. She worked as a clinical coordinator at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she played an integral role in clinical studies and report writing. Outside of her career, Sharon had many passions. She was a dedicated Criminal Case player for 14 years, loved decorating and baking cookies during the Christmas season, and found joy in planting flowers in her garden each spring. Sharon also enjoyed relaxing with her favorite TV shows, with Hazel and Tombstone holding a special place in her heart. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Sharon leaves her sons, David J. Dean of Woburn, Massachusetts, Richard L. Dean, Jr. of Red Lion, George E. Dean of Red Lion, and Charles W. Porter-Dean of Gettysburg. She will be missed by her daughters, Barbara E. Dean of Red Lion, Rosemary Lancaster of Baltimore, Beverly A. Uhlman of Gettysburg, and Cheryl L. Thomas of Hanover. She leaves her 23 grandchildren and 34 great- grandchildren, as well as her brother, Jay Porter of North Carolina and sister, Betty Cole of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her sister, Terri Brown, and her brothers, Charles W. Porter, and George E. E. Porter, Sr.
A time to visit with friends and family will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A funeral service for Sharon will begin at 11:00 am with Chaplain Bob Rohrbaugh of Memorial White Rose Home Health & Hospice officiating. Burial will follow the service in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sharon's memory may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org.
