Shirley P. (Artman) McCormick, of York, accepted the hand of her Lord and Savior approximately two weeks after suffering a stroke, with her daughter Pixie by her side on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 at Rest Haven at the age of 84. She was the wife of the late Dr. R. Dale McCormick, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. who entered into rest on April 25, 2018. Shirley was born on March 5, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Grover F. and Dorothy L. (Bucher) Artman. She graduated from Red Lion High School, class of 1955 and attended York College, obtaining her Associates Degree, eventually becoming a licensed practical nurse. She worked for her father, Dr. Grover F. Artman, in Red Lion, for many years as the office manager and then for her husband, Dr. R. Dale McCormick, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. prior to their retirement. She enjoyed swimming and horse back riding. Shirley regularly attended services in the chapel at Rest Haven. Shirley leaves her daughter, Denise "Pixie" Ruth and husband, Michael, of York, her grandson, Logan M. Shue, of Manchester, Colby J. Shue and husband, Josh Myers, and her five great grandchildren, Charley J. Shue, Laylah N. Miserendino, Aslynn D. Miserendino, Sadie R. Myers and Hayden D. Myers. She was preceded in death by her son, Jean "Ted" D. LaMotte, III., as well as her brother, Grover C. Artman and sister, Carol J. Artman. A time of visitation for friends and family will take place on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 1-2pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Memorial Service of Honor and Praise Shirley's life will begin at 2pm with Chaplain Darvin Hopkins officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Red Lion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Shirley may be offered to Omega Horse Rescue, 8272 Woodbine Rd, Airville, PA 17302 for her love of horses in lieu of flowers.
