IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Ann
(Rupp) Tredway
March 31, 1935 – May 10, 2025
Shirley Ann Tredway, 90, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Red Lion on March 31, 1935 to the late Wilford D. and Hazel E. (Zeigler) Rupp, she was the devoted wife of the late Horace William "Bill" Tredway Jr., who preceded her in death in 2010.
A 1953 graduate of Red Lion High School, Shirley began her education walking to a one-room schoolhouse, Portner's School. Her career took her from Murphy's 5 & 10 to many years as a secretary at Borg Warner, and later to a cherished role as a "cafeteria lady" for Red Lion schools—loved by students and staff alike.
Shirley's life was grounded in faith, family, and kindness. A longtime member of Bethlehem Stonepile Church, she was known for her warm heart, holiday meals, strong faith in God, and the love she poured into everything she did—especially time spent with her grandchildren and grand puppies.
She is survived by her daughters, Suzette E. Snyder (Matthew), who lovingly took care of her for the past 13 years in her journey with Alzheimer's, and Cynthia A. Holland (Todd); her grandchildren, Joseph D. Burns (Alexa), Kara M. Holland, and Paige E. Holland; and great-grandson, Landon William Burns. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Janet and Brenda Rupp and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lee Tredway, and her brothers, Glenwood, David, and Darwin Rupp.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Bethlehem Stonepile Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Road, Red Lion, with Pastor Bryant Holtzapple officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the York County SPCA (www.ycspca.org).
