Stephen A. Metz, "Hambone", 64, of Brogue, entered into rest at Gardens of Camp Hill on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 6:25 AM.
Stephen was born in York on March 13, 1958 and was the son of the late William H. Sr. and Rosie H. (Gulden) Metz. He was a graduate of Kennard Dale High School, class of 1976 and was an automotive mechanic. Stephen was a member of the North Hopewell-Winterstown Volunteer Fire Company. A caring man, Stephen was known for helping others in need or who simply needed a hand. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, camping at the beach, dancing, motorcycles, family get togethers and attending auctions. Spending time with his family was very important to him and quality time with his grandsons were the moments he cherished most. Stephen attended Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his daughter, Amanda L. Daugherty and husband, Craig, of Brogue, as well as his two grandsons, Jace W. Mellinger and Colt A. Daugherty, also of Brogue. He leaves his brothers, Frederick E. Metz and wife, Nancy, of York and James E. Metz and wife, Dawn, of Perry Hall, MD, as well as his sisters, Ruthann Muetze and husband, Peter, of Lewes, DE., Phyllis E. Hoachlander, of Red Lion, and Linda J. Shaffer and husband, Ron, of Dover, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica A. Mellinger, his brother, William H. Metz, Jr., and his half sister, Donna Rae Shumway.
A visitation for Stephen will take place at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 1-3 PM. A Memorial Service of Honor and Praise will begin at 3 PM with Rev. Gary Allshouse, Pastor of Cross Roads United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered in Stephen's memory to the North Hopewell-Winterstown Volunteer Fire Company, 12246 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322.
