Sydney "Syd" L. (Gingrich) Grim of Spry entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at 7:42 p.m. at York Hospital, after a lengthy illness at the age of 80. She was the companion of John C. Allison of Spry and her late husband, J. Luther Grim, who entered into rest on December 1, 1992 . Sydney was born in York on February 14, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and V. Louise (Heighes) Gingrich. Syd was the owner and operator of the former Spurg's Restaurant in Spry where she retired from in 1990; a member of Christ Lutheran Church Starview in York; also a member of Rainbow Chapter #517 Order of the Eastern Star Red Lion, where she was a former Worthy Matron; and Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106 Order of the Amanranth. Surviving her are companion, John C. Allison of Spry; a son, Lee A. Thomson of York and wife Brenda M.; a daughter, Julie L. Gladfelter of Kirkwood, Pa. and husband Paul; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Cole; and a sister, Merrill Thoman of York; numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Fri., Nov. 28 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Rainbow Chapter #517 OES will present a service beginning at 1:45 pm. A Service of Honor and Praise for Syd will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Her pastor, Richard Starr will officiate. Burial will be in Mt.
