Obituary

Terry Bluett, 81, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025, at Penn State Lancaster Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Bonnie (Hock) Bluett for 42 years.

Born January 16, 1944, in Elmhurst, IL, Terry was the son of the late John and Ruth (Sifferman) Bluett. He grew up in Missouri and Maryland, graduating from Milford Mill HS in 1962 and the University of Maryland in 1966. His career began at 3M before he became Executive Director of Junior Achievement of York, where he inspired many young people. In 1973, Terry joined York Hospital's Human Resources department, later serving as Director until 1991. He championed employee programs, benefits, and even captained the hospital's tennis team. He later founded Workers Transition Network, then devoted his retirement to living history, portraying Civil War characters for the PA Tourist Bureau and Steam into History.

Terry had a knack for gardening and enjoyed sharing his harvests with others.  He also was a huge sports enthusiast of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens and invented a baseball trivia game.  Terry loved cheering on his children and grandchildren at their various athletic events.

Terry was deeply committed to his community, serving as March of Dimes chairman, baseball coach and umpire, Cub Scout leader, and active Chapel Church member. At Chapel, he held leadership roles and helped launch the "Let's Get Cooking" program for 18 South Youth Center in Red Lion, which continues to provide meals and hope for local youth.

In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by his children Wendy Capoferri (Steve), David Bluett (Stacey), and Shane Bluett; siblings Denis (Katherine), Brian (Becky), Mark (Karen), Karen Davis, and Sandy Bluett; grandchildren Lauren DeAngelo (Christian), Taylor and Sarah Capoferri, David and Jonathan Bluett; and great-grandsons Bentley and Braxton DeAngelo. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth.
