Obituary

Thelma Mae (Tome) Einsig, formerly of York, closed her eyes and accepted the extended hand of her Lord and Savior on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, to begin her eternal life in heaven at 8:05 pm, from Manor Care Kingston at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Charles D. Einsig, who entered into the Lord's care on October 25, 2005. She was born in Lower Windsor Township on December 22, 1926, and was the daughter of the late John H. and Margie Alverta (Olewiler) Tome. She graduated from Red Lion High School, Class of 1945. Thelma had worked in cigar factories and a few other jobs, but most of her life was dedicated to caring for her husband and her children. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran in Columbia, Thelma loved flowers and working in her garden and greenhouse. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, cooking, and canning, she even had a cookbook published. But the most important thing was the time she spent with her family. Thelma leaves her son, Michael E. Einsig of Wrightsville. She was the loving grandmother to: Paul B. Einsig of York, Carmen Mejia of York, Ned L. Einsig, Jr. and his wife Tina of York and David M. Einsig and his wife Julie of Red Lion. Thelma has eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Pastor James Fahringer of York, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Ned L. Einsig in 1980, and her four siblings, Dorothy A. Tome, Betty V. Miller, Janet Keeney, John Henry Tome, Jr., and Joan M. Fahringer. The viewing will be on Friday, April 14th, from 1-2 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Thelma will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home, with her brother-in-law, Pastor James N. Fahringer, of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in York, officiating. The burial will take place at Salem Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: Susan G. Komen, Breast Cancer, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
