Theresa M. (Bungo) Mayo, of York, went home to her Lord, on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Wellspan York Hospital, at 2:25 am at the age of 76. She was the wife of the late Leo Marquez, Sr. who entered into rest in 2005. She was born in Smoke Run, Pennsylvania on June 13, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Louis J. , Sr. and Marie (Hilmeyer) Bungo. After high school, Theresa went to business school, but was a homemaker for most of her life. She was of the Catholic Faith, and was a very kind and giving person supporting various charitable organizations. She enjoyed watching TV, looking at antiques, going to the ocean, taking care of others and being with her family. Theresa leaves her son, Juan M. Mayo and his girlfriend, Olena Yakoulyeva, both of York, and a daughter, Danielle R. Smith and her husband Jason of York. She was the loving grandmother to, Julian Smith, Sydney Smith and Cayla Marquez, and sister to Louis Bungo, Jr. of Belleview, FL. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 9-10 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Theresa will begin at 11 am at the funeral home. Father Mark Weiss, St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at 2 pm at Delaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Cockeysville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: York Cancer Center/Cancer Patient Help Fund, York Health Foundation, 50 N. Duke St., Second Floor, York, PA 17401. God looked upon his garden, and found an empty place. He then looked down upon this Earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain. He knew you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered "Peace be thine."
