Thomas "Tom" Alan Leiphart entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 15 at 2:57 p.m. at York Hospital at the age of 57. He was born in Evanston, Ill. on February 10, 1958, and was the son of Bertine E. (Olson) Leiphart of Red Lion with whom he resided and the late George E. Leiphart. Tom worked many years at York Corrugating Company. He followed in his Father's footsteps, who was also a veteran, and served his country in the United States Army. Surviving besides his mother is a sister, Barbara Leiphart of York; and a brother, William Leiphart of York; a great niece, Destiny; and a great nephew, Jacob. He was preceded in death by a niece, Michelle Howard. There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Graveside Service of Honor and Praise for Tom will begin at 11 a.m. on Wed., June 24 at Jefferson Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. The Rev. Tina M. Melusky, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church , will officiate. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
Bertine says she is the luckiest Mother in the world to have had a wonderful, loving, faithful and caring son. He will be sadly missed by many.
