IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tony E.
Bortner
October 30, 1973 – November 1, 2024
Tony E. Bortner, of Windsor, entered into rest on November 1, 2024, at the age of 51. He was the husband of Brenda F. (Stubbs) Bortner, whom he married on May 17, 2008.
Born on October 30, 1973, in York, Tony was the son of Nancy (Hammers) Chipps of Stewartstown and the late Franklin H. Bortner. He was also the stepson of Michael Chipps, and biological son of Donald Grove (Marti). Tony was a 1992 graduate of the former York Vo-Tech and went on to earn an associate degree from Vale University. In his professional life, Tony worked as a forklift operator and warehouse lead at Graham Packaging. His commitment to service extended far beyond his job; since November 2006, he was an active member of Laurel Fire Company #1. He began as a Fire Police Officer, rising through the ranks to the position of Fire Police Lieutenant, and then his current position as Fire Police Captain. Whether it be station chores or fundraising, Tony was known for his loyalty and dedication. Tony looked out for his fellow firemen, always standing by them and taking younger members of the department under his wing, teaching them the ropes of fire policing. Tony will be fondly remembered for always taking care of others and his commitment to his community. Tony was the recipient of the "Fire Policeman of the Year" in 2011, 2013, and 2022. Tony was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church since November 2015.
Outside of his work and service, Tony was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and camping. He spent free time scrapping metal and loved watching his crime TV shows, such as NCIS. Most recently, he had become fond of watching Tulsa King.
Besides his wife, mother, stepfather, and biological father, Tony leaves his sons, Anthony F. Soha-Bortner of York, Channing M. Ramos (Carrie) of New Cumberland, Mackenzie A. Ramos (Taryn) of Windsor, and Nathaniel J. Ramos of Windsor. He leaves his daughters, Kistina Sheppard (Brett) of Manchester, and Willow Bortner of Harrisburg. He leaves his brother, Donald Grove and sisters, Rebecca Beck and Tracy Smith. He also leaves 6 grandchildren.
