Obituary

Wanda Lee (Martin) Lighty, of Felton, went from this earthly life to life eternal on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 3:37 pm at Wellspan York Hospital at the age of 75. She was the wife of George C. Lighty, of Felton, to who she married on May 18, 1963, celebrating 57 years together. She was born in Cole Camp, Missouri, on November 27, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Gerald and Genita (Godfrey) Martin. Wanda was a seamstress, working at the former Doe Spun in York for several years, and then at Jandy Apparel in Hellam. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie # 1406 in Hanover, PA. Wanda and George have a son, Wayne A. Lighty and his wife Jennifer of Red Lion. She was the loving grandmother to Tyler Lighty of Strinestown and Kelsie Lighty of Yoe. Wanda leaves her sister, Vonda Altland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Martin. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Friday, April 23rd, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Wanda will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home, with Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion will officiate. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Those attending the service are asked to follow the CDC guidelines for Covid-19. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
