Wendy Sue (Melhorn) Bowman, of New Freedom, went home to her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 11:20 pm at her residence with family by her side, at the age of 56. She is the wife of Donnie Lee Bowman , to whom she married on Oct. 7, 1989, celebrating 30 years together.
Wendy was born in York on August 15, 1963 and is the daughter of James Melhorn and his wife Lora Bush of Seattle, WA and Barbara (Smeltzer) Hively and and husband Glenn, of York. She graduated from Red Lion Area High School, Class of 1981. She was an accounting consultant with PHH Leasing Company for twenty five years. Wendy loved spending time at her place in Longneck, DE at the beach, she enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and her pets. She was a longtime member for over 30 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church Hametown.
Besides her loving husband, she leaves her two sons, Adam L. Bowman and his wife Caitlyn, of New Freedom, and Sam L. Bowman and his wife Elizabeth, of New Freedom. She was the grandmother to Delilah, Warren, Layne; and she has another granddaughter, Layla Sue, due January 29th, 2020. Wendy's brother, Wade Melhorn lives in Imperial, PA and she also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews to cherish her memory, along with her Labradoodle, Colt.
A viewing for will be on Friday, October 11th from 9-11 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church Hametown, 11894 Susquehanna Trail S., Glen Rock. A Service of Honor and Praise for Wendy will begin at 11 am at the church, with her pastor, Katie R. Brantner, officiating. Burial will take place in Hametown Cemetery.
