Wesley B. Hertel, of Red Lion, entered into rest unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the age of 56. He was the loving husband of Laryssa A. (Roach) Hertel, with whom he celebrated 21 years of marriage on June 14.

Wes born in York on April 21, 1968 and was the son of the late Dale Frederick and Mary Ameila (Fisher) Hertel. Wes was employed as the maintenance engineer at Dawn Foods for 31 years before starting his own company, Handyman & Mechanical Services by Wes. He loved muscle cars and took pride in his 1969 convertible Firebird, which he meticulously built from the frame up, enjoyed boating at Raystown Lake and spending time with his grandchildren. Wes and Laryssa enjoyed traveling to Aruba, Cancun, Cabo, Jamaica, and cherished time spent on their 12 day they recently took together. He had an incredible work ethic and was passionate about putting his skills to work & helping others. He loved his English Bulldog, Vinny, who greeted him in heaven upon his arrival.

Besides his wife, Laryssa, Wes leaves his sons, Brittian X. Hertel of Red Lion, Joshusa A. Jacoby of York, Michael D. Jacoby of North Carolina, and Christopher J. Anderson of Red Lion. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren, Jessica Rineholt of York, Aiden Kiick of West York, and Melody Anderson of Red Lion. He leaves his brother, Jon B. Hertel of Yorkana, as well his aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Wes was preceded in death by his son, Austin M. Anderson on October 7, 2020.

A viewing for Wes will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A service will begin at 5:30 pm with Rev. David D. Tietje of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be sent to the funeral home to assist with the funeral arrangements.
