Obituary

Wilbur Jennings Eveler, Jr., of Red Lion entered into rest on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 am at his residence at the age of 78. He is home now with his late wife, Barbara A. (Zink) Eveler, to whom he was married for 54 years prior to her passing on June 25, 2009. Wilbur was born in York on July 10, 1939 and was the son of the late Wilbur J., Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Ahrens) Eveler. He worked at the former Cole Steel for 24 years then went to Stewart Connector, Gichner's and retired from Harley Davidson in 2004. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and a former Trustee of the York Moose Lodge #148. He graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1957 and was a member of the Viking Athletic Association. Wilbur and Barbara had two children, Mark S. Eveler and his wife Mindy of Felton and Debra Ann Eveler, who preceded him in death in August, 1986. He was a loving grandfather to his two grandchildren, Brooke E. Eveler of Orange, NJ and Derek S. Eveler and his girlfriend Lynzie Wertz of Felton. He has five siblings, Nancy Yohe of York, William Eveler of Red Lion, Bonnie Brown of Seffner, FL, Judy King of Windsor and Wendy Paules of Red Lion and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert, David and Randy Eveler and Gladys King. Viewings for Wilbur will be on Friday, November 17th, from 6-8 pm and Saturday, November 18th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 Broadway, Red Lion. A Service to Honor and Praise Wilbur's life will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: York Health Foundation, Cancer Patient Help Fund, 50 N. Duke St., 2nd Floor, York, PA 17401. Wilbur was a loving Father, Grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend. He enjoyed hunting and working with his hands. Don't cry for me, now I have died, for I'm still here, I'm by your side.
