Anthony Shenberger Obituary


Anthony E. Shenberger, of Red Lion, died at his home on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the age of 76. He was the husband of Katherine E. (Redmond) Shenberger to whom he married on June 9, 1968, sharing 55 years together.

Born in Parkton, Maryland on March 15, 1947, Anthony was the son of the late Ruben and Constance V. (Hedlam) Shenberger. He was a construction supervisor and in addition, was a proud United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Beyond the racetrack, Anthony found comfort in the outdoors, especially during hunting and fishing seasons. In his earlier years, he and Katherine would visit their cabin in Smethport where you could catch them on the trails riding four wheelers. He also enjoyed time on the river, boating and jet skiing with his family and friends. He was a devoted fan of both Penn State and the New York Yankees. Anthony was a member of the Smethport VFW Post 138 and the Red Lion American Legion Post 543. Above all, Anthony treasured the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Anthony leaves his two daughters, Melissa A. Frey and husband, James of Dover and Constance A. Mann of Red Lion. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughters, Chelsea L. Cortez of York and Lindsay B. Mann of Red Lion as well as his great grandson, Conner A. Smith of Red Lion.  Anthony leaves his two sisters, Carol Dunlap and husband, Harold of Windsor, Pamela Lower of Red Lion, and his brother, Ruben Shenberger and wife, Peggy of Felton as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Barbara Reider on February 5, 2020 and Christine Hedrick on February 6, 2013.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
