David Frame Obituary

David Wetherell “Dave” Frame, of Red Lion, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital, supported by his devoted family, on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the age of 89. He was the loving husband of Cheryl Raye (Pace) Frame to whom he was married in Texas on August 15, 1981.

Dave was born in Bellingham, Washington on September 21, 1934 to the late Daniel Platt and June Patricia (Wetherell) Frame. Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. After receiving his Master’s Degree in personnel in New York, he joined the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) in 1960 in New York City serving in the personnel department. He then was transferred to Hawaii. In 1972 he was given a USA/AAFES Award for Civilian Service to Vietnam. In 1974 he was recognized with a service award as Chief, Personnel and Administrative Branch in Thailand. Subsequent periods of assignments were in the United Kingdom, California and Texas. Dave qualified for private pilot license in Texas on May 29, 1977. Dave was later transferred to Munich, Germany in 1982 where he served as Director of Personnel Europe for three years. Dave and his family returned to AAFES Dallas headquarters, where he continued there as Assistant Director of Personnel Worldwide, retiring on July 31, 1990. After watching the TV personality, The Frugal Gourmet, Dave became very interested in cooking, amassed a huge collection of cookbooks, and cooked continuously the rest of his life. He also enjoyed classical music and classic old movies. Dave was also an avid reader, including the biographies of every U. S. president! He also found joy in unraveling the threads of his ancestry by visiting courthouses, archives, libraries and graveyards. He obtained Early Family, Century Family or Pioneer Certificates for identifying his early ancestors in Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, and Illinois. He also traveled extensively with Cheryl in their motor home over the course of 30+ years, visiting friends and family while exploring the natural beauty of national and state parks across the United States. Cheryl and Dave relocated in 2006 from Texas to Red Lion, PA to be near the family of Cheryl’s son, and where they enjoyed spending Summer months while spending Winter months in Mission, Texas up until 2020.

Besides his wife of the home, Dave is survived by his son, Andy Weaver, grandson Cody Weaver, both of Fallston, MD; granddaughter Amber R. Weaver of Joppatowne MD; and grandson, J. T. McQuade of Quarryville. He will also be missed by his great-grandson, Abel J. Parker of Joppatowne, MD.
