Gary Robert Sklar went to his eternal home at his residence in Red Lion on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the age of 73.
Born to Albert and Margaret in Kentucky where they were stationed, Gary was eventually raised in Baltimore. He enlisted in the Air Force where he served his country honorably and after retiring, served 20 years in the Maryland Air National Guard. He had a passion for home improvements and worked in retail at Lowes where he could advise and assist homeowners in purchasing plumbing & building products. Gary enjoyed golfing, appreciated Stephen King novels, was a movie buff and loved learning & expanding his mind. Gary took pride in working on his home. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.
Gary will be missed dearly by his three daughters, Heather M. Staples and husband, Greg of Stewartstown, Amber D. Sklar of Red Lion and Renee L. Sklar of Delta. He leaves his three grandsons, Kyle A. Froehlich of Red Lion, W. Joshua Stump and wife, Ashley and Corey R. Stump, both of Baltimore as well as his granddaughter, Riley C. Sklar of Red Lion and his step-granddaughter, Grace J. Staples of Stewartstown. He also leaves his great granddaughter, Ellie M. Stump of Baltimore, his three brothers, Albert Lee Sklar, Jr. and wife Angela of Baltimore, Edward David Sklar and wife, Linda of York and Stanley Charles Sklar of Florida, his sister, Marlene Lumpkins and husband, Phillip of Ohio and his nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to help assist with the costs associated with Gary’s unexpected funeral expenses.
