Jennings Ward Obituary

Jennings Kenton Ward, 76, entered rest on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Gloria J. (Cardiel) Ward, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 6, 2023.

Born June 29, 1947 in Plymouth, North Carolina, he was the son of Jennings P. and Gladys R. (Snodgrass) Ward. Jennings was a 1965 graduate of Palatka High School in Palatka, Florida. He honorably served his country and was a decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. After his military service, he attended Old Dominion University, graduating in 1972. Jennings retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Real Estate Specialist in 2013. Jennings enjoyed gardening, reading, and attending West Virginia Football games. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was always ready with words of advice, support, and an encouraging source of laughter for which he will be remembered most.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dana M. Eberly and her husband, Steven M. Eberly, and son, John A. Ward, Sr. He is survived by his seven grandchildren: Arissa K. Ward, Nicholas K. Ward, and his fiancée, Brianna Peffer, Hallie A. (Ward) Ossman and her husband, Aaron, Evan K. Eberly, John A. Ward Jr., Carley G. Ward, and Jennings K. Ward III, as well as his four great-grandchildren: Kyler N. Livering, Quinn A. Ward, Rory K Ward, and Owen J. Ward. Jennings was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine K. Sunderland, his son, Jennings K. Ward I, and great-grandson, Brayden T. Livering.

Following cremation, the family will hold a private celebration of life. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
