Kerry D. Meads, of Red Lion, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the age of 58.
Kerry was born in York on April 8, 1965 to the late Charles Douglas and Patsy M. (Gotwalt) Meads. He graduated from Eastern High School, class of 1983 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College & Conservatory. He attended Manhattan School of Music for graduate work. An accomplished musician, Kerry played percussion professionally in the orchestra on Broadway; The New York Philharmonic; and the Boston Pops. He played for local bands in carnivals, fairs, and festivals. He also played on cruises & music tours throughout the United States and Europe over the years. He was a longtime member of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians in New York City. Music and the Lord were the centerpieces of his life. He was a lifetime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hellam.
Kerry leaves his cousins, Charles D. Ferree, Jr. and wife, Linda of Middletown and Jane L. Yingling and husband, Dennis of Altoona.
A viewing for Kerry will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:30 am at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm with Rev. Mark D. Brumbach officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Ashley, Kerry’s nurse in the ICU, who was very attentive to Kerry during his final moments, playing music for him as he passed peacefully.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered in Kerry’s memory to Faith United Methodist Church, 126 E. Market Street, Hallam, PA 17406.
