Obituary

Laverne Michael “Mike” Lentz passed peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 10:45am in the comfort of his home in Red Lion. He was 73 years old. Mike was married to Joyce A. (Ware) Lentz on December 28, 1974, celebrating 48 years of marriage.

Mike was born in York on May 19, 1950 to the late Laverne L. and Audrey Nadia (Hawkins) Lentz, of York. Upon joining the United States Army, Mike proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. He will be fondly remembered as a loving & devoted grandfather who never missed a softball game and who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, collecting Hot Wheels and records, going to the Buck and seasoning everything imaginable with Old Bay. Mike was very social and seemed to know everyone. He was a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post #534 and was employed most recently at Dawn Foods Products, Inc.

Besides his wife and his mother, Mike leaves his two daughters, Patricia Newlin and husband, Matthew of Red Lion and Crystal Lentz and companion, Andrew Lloyd of Manchester. He also leaves his five grandchildren: Jake Stabley and wife, Danielle, Derek Godfrey, Victoria Williams and husband, Tristan, Adam Godfrey and Paige Godfrey as well as his three great grandchildren, Mersadies Horner, Alexa Horner and Skyler Newlin. He also leaves his two brothers, Randy Lentz of Seven Valleys and Steve Lentz and wife, Lynn of York as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle L. Godfrey on October 1, 2011.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
