Mary Jean (Livingston) Gibbs entered into rest at her home in Red Lion at 11:51pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the age of 76. She was the wife of Donald L. Gibbs to whom she married on October 3, 1976.

Born in York on November 5, 1946, Mary Jean was the daughter of the late Richard G. and Dareen S. (Kohler) Livingston and was a graduate of Dallastown High School, Class of 1964. She began her career in 1971 with the former Flinchbaugh Products in Red Lion, now General Dynamics, where she worked as a Production Control Coordinator until her retirement in 2010. Mary Jean had a profound love for equestrian sports and spent most of her free time riding and furthering her education with horseback riding clinics. She enjoyed reading all book genres and was an animal lover. Mary Jean loved her Great Danes and German Shepherds.

Besides her husband, Mary Jean leaves her only daughter, Leah S. Gibbs and boyfriend, James Snyder, Jr. and her granddaughter, Isabella H. Snyder, all of York. She will be missed by her three sisters, Richanda Knaub of Red Lion, Kathie Gohn, Lisa Bloodsworth and husband, Patrick, both of Windsor as well as her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers in law, Roger W. Knaub on April 13, 2023 and Benjamin F. Gohn on June 28, 2020.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 11am until 2pm at American Legion Post 455, 19222 Barrens Road South, Stewartstown, PA 17363. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Mary Jean’s memory be made to Central PA Horse Rescue, 100 Spanglers Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339.
