Rexford A. Wise, of York, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from Wellspan York Hospital at the age of 54.
He was born in York on September 13, 1969 to Kay E. (Grim) Gable and the late Dale T. Wise. He graduated from the former York Vo-Tech in 1987 and was employed as an automotive mechanic at the former Griffith Honda and Automedics. Most recently, he worked at Cintas as a Laundry Manager. Rex had a passion for helping others and faithfully volunteered every Monday for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed fishing in the Yellow Breeches with his stepfather and spending time with his beloved chocolate lab, Roc. Rex had a passion for golf and volunteered during the LPGA tournament in Lancaster. He attended Aldersgate Church.
Besides his mother, Rex leaves his stepfather, R. Dale Gable along with his sisters, Melinda Zimmerer and husband, Jeff of York, Colene Smith and husband, Troy of York and Pam Hertz and husband, Dan of Glenville. He also leaves his brothers, Dale Wise II and wife, Laurie of Seven Valleys, Nathan Wise and wife, Holly of North Carolina and Duane Wise of Ohio. He will be missed by all his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A time to visit with friends and family to celebrate Rex’s life will take place on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Aldersgate Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, PA 17403. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff in the ICU for the care, kindness and support they gave to Rex and his family during his stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Rex’s memory to the Golden Connections Community Center, 20C Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA 17356. On the memo line, note “Meals on Wheels”.
