Velma Waltemyer Obituary

Velma I. (Graham) Waltemyer, of Red Lion, entered into eternal rest at Autumn House East on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Spurgeon B. Waltemyer who died on December 26, 2006.

Velma was born in Chanceford Township on February 23, 1927 to the late Charles James and Grace Bell (Boyd) Graham. She owned and operated her own beauty parlor out of her home, Waltemyer’s Salon, and enjoyed gardening as well as baking. She was a member of Red Lion Bible Church.

She is survived by her son, William S. Waltemyer and wife, Liezyl of Windsor and her daughter, Glenda G. Grothe of Brogue. She leaves her grandchildren, Becky S. Gillespie (Joe) of Lower Chanceford Township, Ronald A. Grothe (Sabrina) of Windsor, Brian W. Waltemyer of Fawn Grove, Spurgeon D. Waltemyer of Windsor, Matthew L. Waltemyer of Windsor, and Daniel J. Waltemyer of Windsor. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Colbi Daugherty (Nikki) of Red Lion, Bo Grothe of York, Angel Grothe of York, Cheyenne Waltemyer of Glen Rock, Scout Waltemyer of Loganville, Bayou Waltemyer of Loganville, and Dustin Waltemyer of Spring Grove, as well as her great-great granddaughter, Isabella Daugherty of Red Lion. Velma leaves her siblings, Glen Graham and wife, Judy of Windsor and Pauline Snyder of Windsor. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Graham, and sisters, Ruth Criswell and Mary Krout, as well as her son in law, Terry Grothe.

A viewing for Velma will be held on February 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at Red Lion Bible Church, 105 Springvale Road, Red Lion, PA 17356. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Steven Schmuck officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Stonepile Church Cemetery. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
